Here is a list of my top 10 favorite books from 2015!
Most of these weren't published in 2015, but I read them in 2015.

The Hunger Games

Author: Suzanne Collins

Genre: Dystopian, Science Fiction, Young Adult

 

Plot: Katniss Everdeen lives in District 12, part of a nation called Panem, which used to be a place called North America. Panem consists of 12 districts and a capitol. The capitol is harsh to the districts, and the living conditions are poor in all the districts. The Capitol also hosts the Hunger Games, where one boy and one girl from each district between the ages of 12 and 18 are sent to fight to death at an arena.

 

After volunteering for her sister in the Hunger Games, Katniss must face 23 other contestants in a battle to the death. Will she survive and declare victory, or will she fail and die in the arena? Read the novel to find out!

Divergent

Author: Veronica Roth

Genre: Dystopian, Science Fiction, Young Adult

 

Plot: In dystopian Chicago, one choice defines your future. One choice defines who you are and who you will become. One choice transforms you into someone else.

Beatrice Prior lives in dystopian Chicago with her parents and her brother, and all of them are Abnegation members. Read the book to find out the incredible journey she takes when she chooses her fate on Choosing Day.

Genre: Realistic Fiction, Middle grade

 

Plot: Willow Chance has always been somewhat of an unusual girl who is extremely intelligent. But her world is turned upside down when the unexpected happens. Read this amazing book to find out more!

I Am Malala: How One Girl Stood Up For Education and Changed the World

Authors: Malala Yousafzai and Patricia McCormick

Genre: Autobiography, Middle grade

Sidenote: This was the young readers edition.

 

Plot: You may know Malala as "the girl who got shot in the head," but you probably don't know the story behind it. Read this inspiring and heartwarming book to learn more about Malala Yousafzai and how she changed the world.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

Author: Robert C. O'Brien

Genre: Fantasy, Middle Grade

 

Plot: Mrs. Frisby, a widowed mouse with 4 children, is the main character. She lives on Mr. Fitzgibbon's farm, with her 4 children, of course. But, one day, Timothy, one of her children, becomes sick with pneumonia. She must find a way to save him before it's too late.

Echo

Author: Pam Muñoz Ryan

Genre: Historical fiction, fantasy, middle grade

 

Plot: Otto is puzzled when he is on a quest that involves a prophecy, a harmonica, and a promise. Years later, Friedrich Schmidt, Mike Flannery, and Ivy Lopez all end up with the same harmonica that Otto had. Each of them faces challenges, and as the "official" book plot/summary says, "And ultimately, pulled by the invisible thread of destiny, their suspenseful solo stories converge in an orchestral crescendo."

The Selection

Author: Kiera Cass 

Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult 

 

Plot: America Singer lives in country called Illéa, which is where North America & Central America use to be. There is a caste system, and it depends on how rich/poor you are, and it also decides what you do for a living. For example, Ones are the wealthiest and Eights are the poorest. America is a Five, which means that she is a musician is somewhat poor. Anyway, the prince, Maxon Schreave is holding a Selection, where he picks 35 girls to compete in the competition of a lifetime—one where the prize is becoming future queen. Will America prevail or will she fail to win over the prince's heart? Read the book to find out!

Princess Academy

Author: Shannon Hale

Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy

 

Plot: Miri Larendaughter lives high up on the hills of Mount Eskel, where her father and her sister Marda work in the local quarry. She calls herself useless, because her father never let her set foot in the quarry. She was a small child from birth, and is now stuck doing household chores instead. Then one day, news arrives that the next princess will be from Mount Eskel and that all the girls in the village who are eligible must attend an academy to prepare. Read the book to find out about her journey and her adventures at the Pricess Academy.

Flora & Ulysses

Author: Kate DiCamillo

Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy

 

Plot: It all started with a vacuum cleaner. Flora was in her room reading comics when some strange noise was coming from the Tickhams' backyard. And then... fwump! She stared out the window and saw that a squirrel had just been vacuumed by a vacuum cleaner. Little did she know that that same squirrel (the one that she had seen being vacuumed) would be her best friend from that day forward.

Warriors: Omen of the Stars Arc: Book 6: The Last Hope

Author: Erin Hunter

Genre: Middle Grade, Fantasy

 

**Please Note: This is the last book in the 4th arc of a series, and this plot won't make sense to you if you haven't read the other 5 books in the arc or if you haven't read the series at all.**

 

Plot: Dovewing, Jayfeather, and Lionclaze are now on a search to find the 4th cat prophecized to help them and guide them. Meanwhile, the four clans will have to unite to take down the Dark Forest once and for all. In the last book of the Omen of the Stars arc, the fate of the clans will be decided.
