Welcome back everybody! It has been nearly a month since I last made a post, and I am so, so, sorry! I haven't been reading a lot lately, and I have actually been reading the same book for 2 or 3 months! Today I will be reviewing the book Crossed by Ally Condie.

If you haven't already been here before, please read the "About" section on this website to learn more about it.

I will start out by introducing the characters, telling you what's different in this book (compared to the first book of the trilogy), and then I will give you a plot summary and what my thoughts are on the book.

I suggest you read my post about the book Matched, (also by Ally Condie), before reading this post, because this Crossed is the second book in a trilogy. You can click here to read it.

Anyway, here we go!

Main Characters:

**Please note: Some of the character descriptions have not been changed or have only been changed a little, due to the fact that you don't find out anything really new about Cassia or Ky. It has also been a long time since I picked up the book, so I may forget a few key plot details. **

**Also, please read "Matched" by Ally Condie, the first book in this trilogy, before reading this review. Otherwise, you will not know what is going on.**

**WARNING: Contains Minor/Major Spoilers.**

• Cassia Maria Reyes, one of the protagonists, a 17 year old girl.

- Physical characteristics: Green eyes; coppery-brown hair; straight, small nose; and a chin with a trace of dimples, like her grandfather.

- Cassia actually seems to be a bit braver and more bold in this book and is proving to be a better and better sorter. *MINOR SPOILER BEGINS* Cassia is also seeing more and more signs of a rebellion, and is eager to find "the Rising" and "the Pilot." *MINOR SPOILER ENDS*

• Ky Markham, Cassia's friend and love interest, a 17 year old boy, the other protagonist.

- An Aberration, not an anomaly, single, matched, or regular citizen

- He is determined to reunite with Cassia, after being thrown back into the Outer Provinces. Along the way, he meets Vick and Eli.

• Indie, Cassia's new friend and an Aberration.

- Indie meets Cassia at a work camp and they somehow end up as friends.

- She is a skilled pilot.

Supporting Characters:

• Vick Roberts, a friend of Ky

- He and Ky met after Ky was sent back to the Outer Provinces.

- His status is Aberration.

• Eli, a boy that Vick and Ky meet on their way to find Cassia.

- He is also an Aberration

- He is a bit younger than the rest of them— 13 years old I think.

• Xander Thomas Carrow, Cassia's best friend and her match, a 17 year old boy.

- Physical characteristics, described by Cassia: bright blue eyes and blond hair—handsome in Cassia's opinion

- He appears only once, at the beginning of the book.

- You will also find out a secret about him that Cassia doesn't know about. However, Ky and Indie do know about this secret of his. I think that it is a fun little plot twist.

**Please Note: There is also another character, but the character appears towards the end of the book. I will give you one hint, however—the character is an Anomaly.**

What's Different In This Book (compared to the first book):

• This book is actually narrated from the point of view of not only Cassia, but Ky as well.

*MINOR SPOILER BEGINS* You will discover that Anomalies still exist, and like I mentioned above, one of the supporting characters in this novel is an Anomaly. You will also discover that the Rising does exist. *MINOR SPOILER ENDS*

There is actually not much else I can say about a different setting that won't give away too much about the book, so that is really it!

Plot:

Cassia tries to make her way to the Outer Provinces to search for Ky. However, she finds that he has already escaped to the canyons. Join Cassia as she journeys on her way to find Ky, and join Ky as he journeys to find Cassia. However, Cassia discovers that she will have to sacrifice everything to get to Ky. Will they reunite? What will become of Cassia and what will become of Ky? Read the highly anticipated sequel to find out.

My Thoughts: *Minor Spoilers Ahead*

** Please respect my opinions, they are mine and not yours. You have no control over the way I think, so please do not judge**

• I actually didn't think this book was as interesting, due to the fact that it seemed like all they could talk about is how Cassia wanted to meet up with Ky and how Ky wanted to meet up with Cassia. And I just found it to be a bit boring— there was no major plot twist, and it wasn't as entertaining as the first book. Sure, it gave you a bit more background information of the Rising and the Outer Provinces, and it introduced a few new characters, but it was a bit boring. I kind of feel like it was just setting the stage for "Reached," the next book in the trilogy, and hopefully that book will get to be a bit better.

• I have sort of gotten over the fact that Xander didn't end up with Cassia, but I sort of dislike how this book didn't feature him as a main character anymore. Sure, he made one appearance at the beginning, but that was about it.

My Recommendation and Rating Out of 5 Stars:

I think that this book was ok and you should definitely consider reading it if you read the first book. It wasn't as good as the first one, and really didn't hook me from the beginning, but I am still going to read the third book. I would rather finish the series, and I have seen a lot of positive reviews for the third book. I would give this book 3.5 stars out of 5.
